49% of Canadians think immigration targets are too high!
Posted on January 19, 2023
With an aging population and low birth rate immigration accounts for almost 100% of Canada’s labour force growth. Roughly 75% of Canada’s population growth comes from immigration, mostly in the economic category.
We are now setting new records for immigration this year with a plan to accept 500,000 in each of the next 3-5 years. Almost 10,000 per week. It is the government’s belief that this move is necessary to sustain and grow Canada’s economy generating billions of dollars in additional GDP with the associated tax growth necessary just to pay for it all.

Western and Northern Canadians are at a crossroads!
Posted on December 08, 2022
Canada is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world with a population density under 4 people per square kilometre, which ranks 228th in the world. We occupy 4 time zones, 15 Ecozones, and very diverse regions by employment, weather and natural resources. Persons living in Nova Scotia face dramatically different issues than those in Central BC.
It is time to abandon the erroneous concept that a federal government in Ottawa can create one size solutions for all of Canada. It is time to abandon the erroneous concept that Western Canada is fairly represented in Ottawa when most elections are decided before a single western Canadian vote is even counted.

Time for Saskatchewan to Prosper
Posted on November 17, 2022
On the day his son graduates, Chuck wearing a back brace for his fractured L1 vertebrae is out roping a bull that is out on the lam.
From the Desk of Saskatchewan Maverick Chuck Toney
Saskatchewan, hard to spell but easy to draw, is a very resource rich province. Agriculture, oil, gas, forestry, helium, potash, and uranium are the backbone of our economy here. However, resource development is energy intensive. At the present time one cannot farm, extract oil or mine without the use of fossil fuels. Our federal government knows this very well but acts as if oblivious to the fact. They choose to hamper the fiscal and social well-being of Saskatchewan with their ideology and errant policies.

Maverick the Ally of the Western Provinces in Ottawa!
Posted on October 27, 2022
Premier Danielle Smith is looking to take a bite out of an intruding Ottawa to protect Alberta Sovereignty. Her leadership platform closely mirrored the Maverick Party's Take Back message.
Ever since Stephen Harper helped author the Alberta Agenda in the 2001 Firewall Letter to Premier Klein Conservative Albertans have stood up against Federal overreach into provincial affairs and demand a voice at the table. We hope that all western premiers follow Ms. Smith's lead standing against Ottawa.

A History Lesson
“I was dismayed to learn how bitterly anti-British LaForest was and how clearly he stated his position that he would do everything possible to advance the position of French-speaking Canadians over English-speaking Canadians.”

Is Pierre going to be the saviour for Western Canada?
Posted on September 15, 2022
Is Pierre Poilievre the new savior of Western Canada? Should the Maverick Party close shop now that a new CPC leader has been elected to "save" us?
Recently elected leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, in a surprisingly decisive victory, Poilievre has made many claims supporting a stronger west. But what, if anything, has really changed?

ArriveCan a wolf in sheep's clothing!
Posted on August 30, 2022
There is an adage that says beware a wolf in sheep’s clothing - That something which looks harmless and useful may in fact be a trap with serious, life altering consequences.
Originally the voluntary ArriveCan app was proposed to help Canadians cross international borders safely and quickly. Your phone can easily verify your vaccination status and track your whereabouts during a subsequent quarantine order. While portrayed as just another tool to help stop the spread of the virus its use is now mandatory, with massive fines for non-compliance.

Trudeau once again sidestepping democracy.
Posted on August 18, 2022
On August 19th Trudeau is once again sidestepping democracy and the due process parliament to ban the importation of handguns into Canada with another order in council. This is a rarely used process that allows the PM or Cabinet to create a law (usually to deal with an emergency situation) and avoid debate in Parliament. More and more this is becoming Trudeau's go to process to avoid democratic oversight by other elected officials.
